International Fireproof Technology’s (IFTI) intumescent coating DC 315 recently passed multiple foam manufacturers products at an industry best 400 sq ft per gallon as an ignition barrier. Lapolla’s FL 500 open cell, Certainteed’s half pound Certaspray, and Quadrant’s Quadfoam 500 half pound foam were all tested with a minimal coating of DC 315 at 4 wet mils.
The tests were conducted at Intertek’s San Antonio facility to the following criteria: ICC-ES AC377 Appendix X. Using a tip size if .517 DC 315 can be now coated at only 4 mils wet to achieve a code compliant ignition barrier.
